Contractual jobs another flexible workforce solution

Contractual employment should be viewed positively as it could be another flexible work force solution besides part-time work, says the head of an employment agency.
Previously limited to the manufacturing sector, contractual employment was becoming the trend in the information technology industry, back-end process and telesales, Manpower Staffing Services (M) Sdn. Bhd. general manager Liza Hussain said.
“There are currently more than 300 contact centres in Malaysia that handle both inbound and outbound calls for service and sales.
“Due to the nature of the industry and business cycle, contact centre positions are typically offered on a contract basis,” she said in a statement.
According to Liza, contractual employment allows people to obtain and develop skills in fast-paced environment as they moved from one assignment to the next.
She added that a recent online poll on the Manpower Malaysia’s website (www.manpower.com.my) revealed that Malaysians viewed contract employment positively.
“Of the total respondents, 36% voted that they would definitely consider contractual employment, 43% responded that they might considerate, and only 21% would never consider it,” she said - Bernama
